Mark is a chartered planner and with his wife Ann, owns and runs a rural planning and land agency practice (Ristol Consulting Ltd) representing the interests of Scottish family businesses. The majority of work is within Perthshire and the wider Tay region and is focused on delivering investment in the rural economy. This reflects Mark’s interest in supporting private enterprises and the world class businesses which exist in Perthshire to enable sustainable growth, skills development and job creation within agriculture, forestry, retail, tourism and construction sectors. Underpinning Mark’s work is aligning investment plans with decarbonisation and circular economic strategies, particularly around process heat and cooling and logistics and the opportunity to deliver early stage pathfinder projects.
