Michael works for Scarf, a charity and social enterprise based in the North-East of Scotland. The organisation delivers energy efficiency advice and services to households and businesses across Scotland, helping to reduce fuel poverty and carbon emissions. Michael oversees the Home Energy Scotland (North-East) service, delivered by Scarf under contract from Energy Saving Trust.

Prior to this, he spent 15 years working in the energy sector with SSE and later OVO, where he led and supported a range of teams. His work focused particularly on supporting vulnerable customers, including the design and delivery of initiatives aimed at assisting those most in need through the Vulnerability Guild.

With a strong commitment to the third sector, Michael also serves as Chair of Trauma Healing Together and sits on the board of Perth & Kinross Foodbank. He is passionate about tackling poverty while supporting a just transition to Net Zero.

In his spare time, Michael enjoys spending time with his partner, family, and dog. He is an enthusiastic walker and camper, with a particular interest in exploring Scotland’s islands as he works towards visiting as many as possible.
